Mary Lou Mayes

Mary Lou Mayes began working for Inter-County Energy 39 years ago as a cashier/receptionist. In 1977, Mayes was promoted to the Member Services and Marketing Department, and then became an Energy Advisor in the department in 1992. In August, 2003, Mayes became District Manager of the Lebanon office in Marion County. Being a native of Marion County, Mayes said she enjoys being back in the community and working with the members.
Mayes attended Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky Business College, is a graduate from Leadership Boyle County. She is a graduate of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's Management Internship Program.
Over the years, Mayes has served in various capacities and participated in various organizations such as Leadership Marion County and Marion County Chamber ambasasdor along with the Boyle County 4-H Council, where she served as treasurer for twelve years. In 1998, she won the Nellie Jackson Leadership Award for her years of service to the 4-H program. She has been a committee member of the Boyle County American Private Enterprise System (APES), which is a cooperative extension service program. She is presently serving on the State APES committee. Mayes served on the Kentucky Member Services Association organization and was President of the association. She is a member of the Perryville Commemoration Committee, serving as chairperson of the Perryville Battlefield Scholarship Program. As an active member of the Perryville Christian Church, she serves as a member of the Services and Events Planning Committee.
Mary Lou and her husband, Richard Mayes, reside in the Perryville area. Their three children include Chris Whitehouse, Jennifer Bodner and Stephen Mayes; and three grandsons and two granddaughters.
