Callers threaten to disconnect services unless they receive payment

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 15, 2016) — Attorney General Andy Beshear issued a Scam Alert to warn Kentuckians of con artists pretending to be utility company employees. The scam has largely targeted small-business owners and senior citizens.

The scammers claim to represent the customer’s utility company, saying they are collecting payment for an overdue bill. Customers are threatened with having their service disconnected if they do no pay immediately.

Inter-County Energy joins American Red Cross to improve emergency response services.

Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives provide disaster relief vehicle/trailer.

Inter-County Energy and Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives are partnering with the American Red Cross to improve emergency response services in Kentucky. The cooperatives have joined together to acquire a new disaster relief vehicle, trailer and resources that can be deployed to provide aid.

Attention Inter-County Energy Members:

Utility Partners of America or UPA, a Simple Saver contractor for Inter-County Energy are presently in Inter-County Energy’s service area performing checks on non-communicating demand load control switches. These switches have been installed on outdoor air conditioning units. if your switch isn't working, you should receive a call from an 864 area code within 30 minutes prior to the arrival of the technician. The UPA contractor should have proper identification and driving a truck with signage as pictured.
