Important: How To Prevent Solar Scams from the Office of the Kentucky Attorney General

This section is for the member that is looking for information on Net-Metering and how to go about starting their journey.  This educational piece is designed to answer questions our members may have with regards to how net-metering works so they can have the best possible experience.

Net-Metering Information

Net Metering Tariff

Net metering is available to member-generators who own, operate and maintain electrical generating facilities using solar energy designed to operate in parallel with the existing Inter-County Energy electrical distribution system and be primarily intended to offset part or all of the member-generator’s own electrical requirements.  If you install a solar-electric generating system or wind generation, hydro, biomass or biogas at your home or office with a capacity of 45 kilowatts or less, you may qualify for Kentucky's Net Metering Program. Solar applications can be sent to dannyl@intercountyenergy.net and dan@intercountyenergy.net.  For more information go to Kentucky Solar.  Our Net-Metering Tariff can also be found at the following link. KY PSC Home

Another resource for those interested in installing solar is the Kentucky Solar Energy Society.  Here you can find the latest in Kentucky on solar and a list of solar companies in and around Kentucky.

Landfill Gas Plants: From Junk to Juice

In the fall of 2003, EKPC opened three power plants that produce electric power from landfill gas. Each $4 million landfill gas-to-electric plant converts methane that is produced from decaying trash into electricity. The projects have been applauded for being both environmentally responsible and cost efficient.
