AMI Meter and Installation areas

Inter-County Energy started in late July 2024 upgrading its metering system with a new advanced meter, providing our members with improved access to their daily usage patterns and usage data in 60-minute increments, along with other usage-management options. Inter-County Energy partnered with Luthan Electric Meter to conduct the meter exchange project on behalf of the cooperative, a project that was approved by the Kentucky Public Service Commission.

Why we upgraded to new AMI meters? The meter upgrade provides Inter-County Energy members numerous benefits. The new meters will help us, help you with the services we offer. 

· Using our Smarthub app will allow the member to set up Alerts a& Reminders to better manage energy usage, troubleshoot high-bill problems by providing information about power consumption patterns, outage and blink count history and voltage information, reducing usage questions.  SmartHub Information.     SmartHub App  For additional information on our AMI project.   AMI FAQs 

  • Provide tools and programs to help our members manage their energy use.   
  • The new meter records usage in 60-minute intervals, the date and time of energy usage, and any loss of power experienced at the location. Sixty-minute readings will assist us in answering energy usage questions more efficiently.  ·
  • End of life on current system. Will no longer be able to support and maintain.  
  • Save money by eliminating the labor and transportation costs of in-person disconnection and reconnection of services.  
  • Pinpoint the exact location of outages more quickly, meaning a faster response time.

 

Advanced Metering System (“AMS”) Tariff and Opt-Out Enrollment Form    AMS Tariff   AMS Opt-Out Form

Under Inter-County Energy’s AMS Opt-Out Tariff, certain Members may exchange a communicating meter with non-communicating meter. To be considered for enrollment in the AMS Opt-Out Tariff, please complete this Enrollment Form and return it in-person or by mail to: Inter-County Energy Cooperative, PO Box 87, Danville, KY 40422. Additionally, you can email the completed form to mail@intercountyenergy.net.   Note: There is an initial setup fee per meter as approved by the PSC.

 

Key Points to remember during this process:

· Members do not need to be at home during the installation of the new meter, but Luthan will require access to the cooperative meter. The meter exchange process will only take a few minutes, with a brief power interruption once the exchange is complete.

  • Luthan’s contracting vehicles will be clearly marked, and their employees will carry appropriate identification, including truck signs.

Installation Areas

Our contractor, Luthan Electric Meter started the meter exchange project on behalf of the cooperative, a project approved by the Kentucky Public Service Commission. We moved throughout our service territory in a county-specific process exchanging meters.

Luthan Electric started exchanging meters in Boyle County in late July 2024. From there, Luthan moved to the eastern portion of Casey County then to Lincoln and Rockcastle Counties while finishing up at the end of 2024 in Garrard County and a western portion of Madison County. Once 2025 began, Luthan Electric started in Mercer County then moved to Marion and Washington Counties. Meter installations in the western portion of Casey, Taylor, Larue, and Nelson Counties are expected to be complete in the fall of 2025.
